Progressive-Cavity Positive-Displacement Module
Purpose
Meter and move higher-viscosity or shear-sensitive research slurries at controlled low-to-moderate flow.
Operating concept
A rotor-stator pump advances discrete cavities, providing feed proportional to speed; relief and dry-run protection are mandatory because the pump can generate pressure against a blockage.
Key assemblies
progressive-cavity pump; variable-speed drive; dry-run detection; torque/load monitoring; pressure relief; pulsation damping if needed; flush ports; replaceable stator
Operating sequence
wet/prime pump → verify relief path → start at low speed → meter characterized slurry → monitor pressure and torque → stop on blockage → water-flush immediately
Instrumentation
intake/discharge pressure; flow; vibration or motor load; bypass state
Safeguards
pressure relief; rated hose/couplings; isolation and depressurization; wear inspection points
Failure modes and mitigations
dead-head overpressure; dry-run stator damage; abrasive wear; rotor jam; difficult cleanout
Variants
compact feeder; trailer transfer pump; hygienic-style removable stator research unit; multi-pump dosing bank
Validation gates
closed-loop pressure test; leak/coupling review; abrasion trial; fail- safe bypass and purge
Claim boundary
CLAIM BOUNDARY: No certified design, validated recipe, performance guarantee, regulatory approval, or authorization for uncontrolled-fire use is represented.
Unverified concept for qualified research. Not certified equipment, not a validated formula, not fabrication instructions, and not authorization for active-fire use. Individual conventional components are not claimed as separately invented.
