Christopher Woody's Mineral-Earth-and-Water Wildfire Theory
Water is indispensable to firefighting, but it may evaporate quickly, run away from the intended surface or provide only temporary protection under severe heat and wind.
Christopher Woody proposes that combining water with appropriately selected mineral earth may create additional protective properties.
Water may provide immediate cooling.
Mineral earth may potentially help moisture remain on a surface, reduce rapid runoff, leave a coating after some water evaporates and provide a temporary physical barrier against heat, flame or oxygen.
In selected conditions, earth and water together may therefore perform certain direct-attack, exposure-protection or reignition-reduction functions differently from water alone. Water alone remains the scientific control in any such comparison.
This concept concerns direct attack — application to active flame, burning fuels, embers, and hot material. It is not a long-term aerial retardant and not an indirect-attack fireline treatment applied to unburned fuels.
This theory has not yet been proven.
It is a scientifically testable proposition being shared publicly so researchers throughout the world can begin investigating whether mineral earth and water should play a greater role in humanity’s response to wildfire.

Avert the Crisis. Then Clean Up the Mud.
The first responsibility is to protect life, homes, communities, land and infrastructure.
If scientific research establishes that mineral-enhanced water can improve wildfire control or protection, the need for cleanup should be treated as a secondary problem to solve—not an automatic reason to reject a potentially valuable approach.
Cleanup and restoration could also support new physical industries involving environmental recovery, equipment maintenance, land restoration, property cleanup, training and local employment.
Artificial intelligence may help analyze fires and coordinate resources. People will still be needed to protect communities, restore land and clean up the mud.
